UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Whitney Southerst was a member of the nationally recognized Blugold swimming and diving team from 1983 to 1987. She was a NAIA All-American each of her four years at Eau Claire and was a member of the UWEC team that won the NAIA Championship in 1987. Southerst won a total of five individual WWIAC crowns in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1985 and 1987 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 1985, 1986, and 1987. A two-time team captain, Southerst was a member of four conference championship teams while at UWEC and set school records in two events. A 1983 graduate of Irondale High School in St. Paul, MN, Southerst received her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1987. At the time of her induction, she was the mother of one living with her husband in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
