UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Brenda Bergum competed on the Blugold cross country team from 1984 to 1986. She earned NAIA All-American honors in 1984, 1985 and 1986 with her highest national finish coming in 1986 when she took 10th out of 289 runners. Bergum was a member of Blugold teams that won the NAIA National title in 1984 and finished second in 1985. She was also a member of two Blugold teams that won conference titles in 1984 and 1985. Bergum was an All-Conference performer three years with her individual conference finishes including seventh in 1984, third in 1985 and second in 1986. She was also named the Blugolds' Most Valuable Performer in 1986. A 1982 graduate of Hayward High School, Bergum earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1987. At the time of her induction, she was living in Atlanta, Georgia where she and her husband owned a restaurant and coffee café.Â
