Marv Hietpas, a linebacker, was a starter and defensive captain four years and team captain of the 1964 Blugold team which became famous for its comebacks, most notably against Whitewater when the Blugolds trailed 33-18 in the fourth quarter but won by a 37-33 margin. He led the team in interceptions in 1963. An Appleton native, Hietpas served as a high school captain as a senior and defensive captain for three years. A business administration major, Hietpas became associated with the Uniroyal Tire Company where he held several different management positions in Eau Claire and Detroit until 1976. At that time, he joined the Menasha Corporation as a Compensation Manager and later as a Corporate Personnel Manager, the position he held at the time of his induction.
