UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Joan Pedersen competed for the Blugold tennis team from 1980 to 1982 and again in 1983 to 1985, earning team MVP honors for the 1984 and 1985 seasons. She also participated in basketball during the 1983-84 season and club softball in 1983. Bachmeier claimed the conference championship at No. 3 singles in 1980 and again in 1983 and earned the conference title at No. 3 doubles in 1983 and No. 1 doubles in 1984. In 1981, she and her partner were the conference runner-up at No. 2 doubles. During the 1983-84 basketball season, Pedersen ranked second in scoring with 229 points in 22 games for a 10.4 average. She also grabbed 119 rebounds that season for a 5.4 average. She coached varsity girls and boys tennis at Eau Claire North High School from 1985 to 1988 and junior varsity girls basketball at North from 1985 to 1987. She has won various local tennis tournaments for singles, doubles and mixed doubles and has been a tennis professional at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club. A 1979 graduate of Eau Claire North High School, Pedersen earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1986. At the time of her induction, she was an elementary school teacher in the Eau Claire School District.
