Steph Strzalka was a member of the prestigious Blugold swimming and diving team from 1985 through 1988. Strzalka who was one of the Blugold team captains in 1987 and 1988, qualified for the NAIA Nationals each of her seasons of competition and was a four-time All-American. She was also a member of the Blugold teams that won back-to-back national titles in 1987 and 1988. Strzalka's highest national finish came in 1986 when she took eighth place in the 200-yard butterfly. The Blugolds also won four WWIAC team championships when Strzalka was part of the team. Individually, Strzalka won the 200 butterfly as a freshman in 1985, then took fifth in that event in 1986, fourth in 1987 and second in 1988. Her championship in the 200 butterfly in 1985 earned her All-Conference First Team honors. In the 100-yard butterfly, Strzalka finished in the top seven all four years, finishing as high as third in 1985. At the time of her induction, the 1984 Palatine, Illinois prep graduate was a legal information systems coordinator for Kimberly-Clark Corporation in Neenah.Â
