Julie Bins was a member of the nationally-renown Blugold swimming and diving team from 1978 to 1980. She was an AIAW All-American in 1980 and a member of the Blugold team that finished fourth at the AIAW Nationals in 1980. Bins was a member of the Blugold 200 medley relay team that set a national and school record in winning the AIAW national championship in that event in 1980. She was also a member of numerous school and conference record-setting relay teams. On the conference level, Bins was a member of the Blugold team which won its first WWIAC championship in 1980 and has gone on to win 15 successive team titles. She earned an individual conference championship in the 50 freestyle in 1978 and was a member of the conference champion 200 medley relay in 1978 and 1980, the 400 medley relay in 1978, the 200 freestyle relay in 1978 and 1980 and the 400 freestyle relay in 1980. A 1978 graduate of Wausau Newman High School, Bins earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1982. At the time of her induction, Bins was an accounting and business systems manager for Cargil, Inc. in Savage, MN.  She and her husband Doug were parents of two.
