Mark Henrikson made his mark at UWEC as a distance freestyler. He won the conference 500 and 1650 freestyle events twice, setting conference records in both. He was a two-time conference 400 individual medley champion, emblematic of the best all-around swimmer, and helped the Blugolds win a pair of 800 freestyle relay titles, also in conference record time. He earned his All-American status with a sixth place in the 1650 as a freshman and as a member of the 800 freestyle relay team in 1975. Henrikson earned seven All-District First Team spots and as a sophomore was team co-captain and co-MVP. At one time, he had his name on five school records. At the time of his induction, Henrikson was a certified paramedic/firefighter in St. Petersburg, Florida, a position he had held since 1978. He received four Sertoma or humanitarian lifesaving awards and was the 1984 parademic of the year in St. Petersburg. Prior to his current position as a paramedic/firefighter, Henrikson was a senior lifeguard instructor and assistant swim coach for the St. Petersburg Recreation Department.
