UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Trig Pedersen was a Blugold basketball and football player from 1936 through 1939. He was considered a magician with the basketball as well as a natural athlete in other sports such as football, volleyball, swimming, handball and softball. He played for Bill Zorn during one of the greatest basketball eras in Blugold history. He was a three-year All-Conference selection and helped the Blugolds claim conference championships in 1938 and 1939. He was also a halfback on the football team as a junior. His college career was shortened by the start of World War II as he was one of the first called up with the National Guard. After the war, Pedersen returned to play in the local YMCA for years and was also regarded as a topflight sports official. He was a long-time employee of Austin’s White House in Eau Claire. He also raised nine children, two of whom (Dan and Joan) became outstanding athletes at UWEC.
