Holly Hanson was a member of the prestigious Blugold swimming and diving team from 1979 to 1981. She competed when UWEC was affiliated with the Association of lntercollegiate Athletics for Women and was an AIAW All-American each season she competed. Hanson was a member of the AIAW national champion 400 medley relay team that set a national and school record in 1980. She was a member of the Blugold national teams that finished eighth in 1980 and fourth in 1981. A member of numerous school and conference record-setting relay teams, she also set a conference and school record in the individual 500 freestyle as she won the conference championship in that event in 1980. She was a member of two Blugold teams that won conference championships in 1980 and 1981. The 1980 conference team title was the first of what is currently (1995) a string of 16 consecutive conference crowns for the Blugolds. Hanson was also part of the 400 medley relay team and the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams that won conference titles in 1980 and 1981. A 1979 graduate of Madison Memorial High School, Hanson earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1983. At the time of her induction, she and her husband Kurt were parents of one and Holly was a credit manager for Titanium Metals Corporation in Denver, CO.
