Denise Boos was a member of the Blugold volleyball team from 1984 to 1987. As a senior in 1987, she was a member of the Blugolds’ WWIAC championship team and was also an All-Conference selection as an outside hitter. Boos was also part of the 1987 Blugold team that competed in NCAA Division III postseason play and was named to the All-Region Team. Boos was named the Blugolds' Most Valuable Player in 1987 and was also voted the team's Most Dedicated. At the time of her induction, she held Blugold school records for most blocks in a season with 148 in 1987; most blocking assists in a match with nine and in a season with 90. She was also the school record-holder for best attacking percentage for a season at .394 and for a career at .377. A 1984 graduate of Chippewa Falls McDonell High School, Boos received her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1988. At the time of her induction, she was the business manager for the Chippewa Area Catholic Schools in Chippewa Falls.
