Deanna Marchello holds the distinction of being the first All-American for the Blugold women's cross country team as she captured 15th place at the AIAW nationals in 1981. She earned All-American honors at the NAIA nationals as she took second place in 1982 and fifth in 1983. Marchello earned NAIA District 14 All-District recognition as she took third at the District meet in 1982 and captured the District title in 1983. She was also named to the WWIAC All-Conference First Team three years with her highest place coming with runner-up honors in 1983. She was the Blugolds' Most Valuable Performer in 1982 and 1983. Between indoor and outdoor track, Marchello was named to the All-Conference Team six times and earned All-American honors three times. She earned her first All-American honors in track with a fourth-place in the 5,000-meter run at the AIAW outdoor nationals. In 1983, she set school records in the mile and 2-mile as she took second and fourth respectively at the indoor conference meet. At the outdoor conference meet that same year, Marchello captured the 1500-meter crown and finished fourth in the 5,000 meters. She later set a school record in the 5,000 at the NAIA outdoor nationals as she took third place. At the NAIA indoor nationals in 1983, Marchello finished fourth in the 2-mile. At the time of her induction, she held the school record in the 1500 meters that she set at an indoor invitational meet in 1983. Marchello was voted MVP of the track team in 1983. In 1984, Marchello once again earned All-Conference honors in track by finishing fifth in the mile at indoor conference and second in the 3000 meters at outdoor conference.

Marchello, a 1980 graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School in Fond du Lac, earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1984. At the time of her induction, she resided in Eau Claire and was a tax representative assistant for the Wisconsin Department of Revenue and was the assistant coach of the Eau Claire women's cross country team the past two years. She has also assisted with the Blugold track team.
