Julie Pankow competed on the Blugold track & field team from 1980 through 1982. In 1981, Pankow was the WWIAC indoor champion in the 60-yard hurdles, setting a school record and earning a spot on the All-Conference First Team. At the conference outdoor championships in 1981, Pankow captured the 100-meter hurdles and was named to the All-Conference First Team. She was also second as a member of the 880-yard relay team at the conference indoor meet in 1981 and second as a member of the mile relay team at the conference outdoor meet. Pankow qualified for the AIAW Outdoor Nationals in the 100 hurdles. During 1981, Pankow set school records in the 50 and 60-yard hurdles indoors and the 100-meter hurdles outdoors. She was also a member of the school record-setting 400 and mile relay teams. At the 1982 WWIAC indoor championships, Pankow finished second in the 60 hurdles and the long jump and was a member of the second-place mile relay team. At the conference outdoor meet, she was third in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the long jump. Pankow qualified for the AIAW Nationals in the long jump and the 100 and 400-meter hurdles. She earned All-American honors with a sixth-place finish in the long jump with a school-record leap of 18-3 3/4. Pankow set school records in the 55 hurdles indoors and the 100 hurdles and the long jump outdoors in 1982. She was also the team Most Valuable Performer. Pankow graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in Appleton in 1977 and earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1982. She also earned her master's degree in exercise physiology. At the time of her induction, Pankow and her husband Tom were parents of two and Julie was an exercise physiologist for Heartcare Ryhab/Fitness Center of Hinsdale Hospital in Hinsdale, Illinois.
