UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Rosemary Iverson was the only woman at UWEC to compete on the varsity men's golf team since women’s golf was not a varsity sport at the time. Iverson lettered on the golf team in 1974 and represented the university at meets from 1973 to 1976. She earned individual honors at the women's Illinois State Invitational all four years with her highest finish coming in 1973 when she took second place. She was also a member of the Blugold women's basketball team during her four years at Eau Claire. Iverson graduated from Brodhead High School in 1972 before earning her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1976. She coached volleyball, basketball and track and field at Mayville High School from 1977 to 1978 and, at the time of her induction, was a golf professional at the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis. Iverson is a Class "A" member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) and Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and has 15 years professional teaching experience. She was the first woman elected to PGA membership in the Midwest in 1983 and was nominated for LPGA and PGA Teacher of the Year in 1989.
