UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Ellen Holterman was a member of the prestigious Blugold swimming and diving team from 1982 to 1986. She was part of the Blugold NAIA national championship team in 1983 and was a member of four conference championship teams. Holterman was the individual national champion at the NAIA Nationals in 1986 on both the one and three-meter diving boards. She also set the national record on the 1-meter board at the 1986 Nationals. Holterman also earned eight NAIA All-American honors in diving from 1983 to 1986, never placing lower than sixth. She was also named the NAIA District 14 Diver of the Year in 1986. At the conference level, Buchberger was named to the All-Conference Second Team on the one and three-meter boards in 1986. She was named the Blugolds' Most Inspirational in 1985 and was voted the Female City Athlete of the Year by the Eau Claire Leader Telegram in 1986. A 1982 graduate of Franklin High School, Buchberger earned her bachelor's degree from UWEC in 1987. At the time of her induction, she was teaching physical education and coaching diving in the New Berlin Public Schools.
