Gordy Schofield played Blugold football for four seasons and served as co-captain his senior year. Schofield spent his entire career at Antigo High School, starting as an assistant football coach in 1953 before becoming head coach in 1962, replacing fellow Blugold Hall of Famer Link Walker. Schofield was Wisconsin High School Football Coach of the Year in 1973 and 1976. His Red Raiders won the first state Class AA football playoff in 1976 and repeated again in 1978. Before the playoffs began, his teams were ranked No. 1 in the state in 1972, 1973 and 1975. At the time of his induction, Schofield had a career record of 132-17-2 and had directed Antigo to unbeaten records in 1969, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1976 and 1978. His teams won the Wisconsin Valley Conference championship 11 times in the 15 years before his induction. He was selected to help coach the North squad in the first Wisconsin High School Shrine football game in July, 1977.
