UWEC Athletics Hall of Fame
Barb Brockman played basketball for the Blugolds from 1979 to 1983 and was named the Most Valuable Player in 1982 and 1983. She was the first woman to score over 1,000 points in a career with 1,190 points in 74 games. She led UWEC in scoring during the 1980-81 season with 265 points for a 14.8 per game average. She led the team in rebounding three seasons from 1980 to 1983 with her highest rebound total coming her senior season as she grabbed 10.4 boards per game for a total of 218. She finished with 719 career rebounds. She once had six blocked shots in a game and finished with 148 for her career. During the 1980-81 season, she shot 70 percent from the field. Brockman was named to the All-Conference team and the NAIA All-District 14 Team in 1983. A native of Bruce, Brockman graduated from Bruce High School in 1979 and earned her bachelor’s degree from UWEC in 1983 and a master’s degree in 1988. At the time of her induction, she was a teacher in the Rib Lake School District and the girls high school varsity volleyball coach. She was honored as the Marawood Conference Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1990.
