Wallen earns All-America honors to open NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships with both of its competitors in action on Wednesday at Greensboro Aquatic Center. Blake Wallen (So. – Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) earned the first All-America honor of his career to highlight the opening day for the Blugolds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wallen finished 16th in the men's three-meter diving competition, earning him second team All-America distinction. He scored 425.70.
  • Wallen had qualified for the consolation finals through his performance in the prelims. All eight divers in the consolation finals earned second team All-America honors by virtue of finishing ninth through 16th.
  • It's Wallen's first time as an All-American, and it comes in his second trip to the NCAA Championships. He took 22nd on the three-meter board last season.
  • Molly Hosack (Jr. – Cedarburg, Wis.) opened up her second career trip to nationals by tying for 25th in the women's 500-yard freestyle. She finished in 5:00.60, her second-best time of the season.

UP NEXT

The NCAA Championships continue on Thursday, March 20. Hosack will be the lone Blugold in action, swimming in the women's 200-yard freestyle. Prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. Eastern, and the 200-yard freestyle will be the fifth event of the session.
