GRANVILLE, Ohio —
Blake Wallen (So. - Savage, Minn./Prior Lake) of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's diving team punched his ticket to the NCAA Division III Championships with his performance at the Region 1 Diving Championships on Friday and Saturday at Denison University. Wallen placed highly enough on both the one- and three-meter boards to advance to nationals in both events.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wallen placed fourth on both the one- and three-meter boards. The top six men's divers in each event earned a spot at the NCAA Championships.
- Wallen scored a 442.60 in the one-meter competition and a 450.35 in the three-meter competition.
- He will make his second career trip to the NCAA Championships. He competed in both diving events last season as a freshman, placing 21st on the one-meter board and 22nd on the three-meter board. This will be the third consecutive season the Blugold men will have a diver at the national meet.
- Ella Josephs (So. - Plymouth, Wis.) was the lone diver from the women's team competing at the regional. She placed 25th on the three-meter board with a 342.00 and 27th on the one-meter board with a 330.10.
