BROWN DEER, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's swimming and diving teams got off to a strong start to the 2025 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (Presented by Culver's) on Wednesday at Schroeder Aquatic Center. The Blugolds won conference titles in a pair of relays on the opening day of the meet. Both teams are looking to defend their WIAC team championships from a season ago.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blugold men and women both won the WIAC title in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
- The women's 800 freestyle relay team of Kiara Bissen (Sr. - Madison, Wis./Memorial), Grace Schnabl (Jr. - New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower), Emma Vogen (So. - Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) and Molly Hosack (Jr. - Cedarburg, Wis.) was less than a second away from breaking the WIAC record in its title-winning swim. The group finished in 7:36.96, which was just a shade more than the record the Blugolds set in 2024 at 7:36.30.
- This is the third season in a row the UW-Eau Claire women won the WIAC title in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
- The men's 800 freestyle relay team of Ben Keller (Sr. - Cedarburg, Wis.), Drew Testin (So. - Mequon, Wis./Homestead), Kadin Denner (Sr. - Aurora, Colo./Cherokee Trail) and Evan Schroeder (Sr. - Shakopee, Minn.) finished in 6:43.22 to win the conference title.
- This marks the fourth consecutive year the Blugold men have claimed the WIAC title in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

The meet continues on Thursday, February 20, and runs through Saturday. Prelims begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, with finals slated for 6:30 p.m.
