EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team jumped back into WIAC play on Saturday as they hosted last season's tournament champions, UW-Whitewater. Despite three match up wins on the day, UWEC fell to UWW, 5-2.
Morgan Briggman and
Stella Platt continued their conference dominance winning their third straight WIAC matchup, 7-5, at No. 3 doubles. Briggman and Platt are now 3-0 on the year in dual action. The Warhawks took the other two doubles matches to earn the singular doubles point.
In singles,
Aubrey Wittwer also continued her dominant WIAC play with a win at No. 4 singles to improve to 3-0 on the year during duals. Wittwer's 7-6 (9-7), 6-3 win earn Eau Claire one of their two points during the afternoon contest.
Ana Paula Ricaurte earned the other Blugold point with a win at No. 5 singles with a 7-5, 4-1 victory on retirement.
The Blugolds will take a break from WIAC play and head to St. Peter, MN on Saturday, September 20 for the Midwest ITA Regional tournament, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.
