EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team was back at home on Friday as they faced off with Simpson College and the John & Fay Menard YMCA Tennis Center. The Blugolds once again swept the doubles matches while winning five of the six singles matches to earn the 6-1 victory over the Storm.
Doubles play saw Eau Claire victorious in all three matches after
Delaney Hanson and
Reese Keller won the No.1 matchup, 6-1.
Beatriz Felchak and
Brooke Boland won at No. 2 doubles 6-1, while
Stella Platt and
Morgan Briggman grinded out a 12 set thriller at No. 3 doubles, eventually winning 7-5.
In singles play,
Magdalena Kristo won in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-3.
Aubrey Wittwer swept the competition at No. 2 singles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Ana Paula Ricaurte won her match at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-4.
Kendall Sullivan and
Olivia Wohnoutka sealed the team's 6-1 win with victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
The Blugolds are now 2-0 on the season in dual matchups, while Simpson College drops to 0-2 on the year.
UW-Eau Claire will travel to UW-Whitewater for the Whitewater Invite on Saturday, September 5. The tournament is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex.
