MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced its Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of September 14 - September 20, with UW-Eau Claire women's tennis player Brooke Boland earning Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week honors. The selection was determined by a vote of WIAC head coaches and sports information directors.

Broooke Boland was victorious at No. 6 singles over UW-Whitewater's Ella Alcalde to help the Blugolds secure their fourth and final point to beat the Warhawks for the first time since 2006. As the final match of the afternoon and despite falling in the opening set, 4-6, Boland stormed back with victories of 6-2, 6-2 to earn UW-Eau Claire the win and snapping a 27-match losing streak to the Warhawks. 

This is the first time Boland has received WIAC Athlete of the Week honors.

The Blugolds will compete at the Midwest ITA Regional next Friday, September 25th in St. Peter, Minnesota. The Regional lasts until Monday, September 28th.
