WHITEWATER, Wis. (www.blugolds.com) — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team played in their first tournament of the 2026-27 season on Saturday. With placements in three singles brackets and three doubles flights, the Blugolds placed fourth overall out of eight teams, scoring 28 total points.
Stella Platt and
Morgan Briggman tallied the highest UWEC finish, earning 2nd place in the No. 3 doubles open bracket. After defeating Augustana (Ill.) 8-2 in the first round, Platt and Briggman earned themselves a spot in the finals with a 8-5 win over UW-Whitewater in the semifinals. The Blugold pairing battled hard against Grinnell but fell short, 6-8, to earn 2nd.
In the No. 1 doubles flight,
Reese Keller and
Delaney Hanson placed 4th overall after an opening round win over UW-Oshkosh, but falling to UWW and Grinnell. The No.2 doubles team of
Brooke Boland and
Beatriz Felchak fell in their opening match against UW-La Crosse, but bounced back with wins over Augustana (Ill.), 8-1, and UW-Whitewater, 8-5, to place 5th.
In singles action,
Ana Paula Ricaurte placed 3rd after a 6-1, 6-3 win over Carthage and a tiebreak victory over Augustana (Ill.), 6-2, 0-6, 10-7.
Aubrey Wittwer and
Magdalena Kristo placed 6th in their brackets with lone wins over Carthage.
The Blugolds will be back in dual action on Wednesday, September 12 at 10:00 a.m. in Menomonie Wis.
