MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. (www.blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team was back on the road over the weekend for the Minnesota Golf Classic hosted by Bethel University at the Pioneer Creek Golf Course. With a field of over 100 golfers from Division I, II, and III, the Blugolds top team finished 2^nd overall out of 15 teams in attendance and Nick Amtmann (Sr. – Nashotah, Wis.) tied for 10^th overall individually.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Nick Amtmann was in top season form the entire weekend with a pair of 70 stroke rounds and a 78 in the second round to finish the three-round weekend at +11.
• Owen Covey (Sr. – New Richmond, Wis.) was at the top of the pack all weekend as well, tying for 15^th overall after the three rounds. Covey shot an even par 68 to open the weekend to help UWEC stay towards the top of the leaderboard.
• The top Eau Claire team finished just one stroke behind the eventual winning team, Bethel University.
• UW-Eau Claire's B team finished 5^th out of the 15 teams present. Nick Mueller (So. – Baldwin, Wis.) and Alec Sosnowski (Verona, Wis.) led the way with top 40 finishes.

 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Blugolds will return home for their annual Frank Wrigglesworth tournament on Sunday, September 15^th. The two-day tournament is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Eau Claire Golf and Country Club.
