Maple Plain, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team began their 2025 season at the Minnesota Golf Classic with three rounds during Saturday and Sunday. The Blugolds finished 7th overall as
Spencer Lynch finished 12th individually as the third highest NCAA Division III competitor among a field of 110 golfers from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. The Blugolds' scorecards had them at +43 over par, which was 34 strokes higher than the eventual winners, Gustavus Adolphus, who finished at +9 over par.
Spencer Lynch soared up the leader board on day three recording the second lowest scorecard of the day, coming in at -5 under par. His clutch final round paired with two rounds of +3 over par placing him tied for 12th with a +1 over par total on the weekend. Lynch captured eight birdies and only three bogies in hi final round to post a 67.
The next lowest Blugold on the weekend was
Luke Taebel who finished 45th overall with rounds of 76, 72, and 77. Taebel's eight birdies on the weekend led him to a +9 over par finish. Right behind Taebel was
Ryan Jamieson who finished +15 over par and placed 65th overall.
The Blugolds' second team was led by
Karsen Kruse who finished 53rd overall with a three round total of +11 over par. The second team placed 12th overall.
The Blugolds wil return home for their annual home tournament next weekend, the Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational. The two day tournament is set for Sunday and Monday, September 14-15 at the Eau Claire Golf & Country Club.
