LAKE GENEVA, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's golf team delivered a strong performance, finishing second at the Grand Intercollegiate with a team score of 575 (+7) over two rounds.
Drew Maglio led the charge, securing second place individually with a final score of 139 (-3).
UW-Eau Claire secured a second-place finish at The Grand Intercollegiate with a team score of 575 (+7), trailing only Dubuque by three strokes. The team improved from a first-round score of 291 (+7) to an even-par 284 in the second round. Led by Maglio, who finished second individually with a final score of 139 (-3), UWEC demonstrated consistency and precision. Maglio recorded a 69 (-2) in the first round and followed it up with a 70 (-1) in the second round.
Spencer Lynch also contributed significantly to the team's success, tying for sixth place with a final score of 141 (-1). Lynch maintained his form with a 71 (E) in the first round and a 70 (-1) in the second.
Luke Taebel rebounded from a first round 76 (+5) to post a 70 (-1) in the second round, finishing tied for 18th at 146 (+4). This collective effort highlighted the Blugolds' strong performance, securing their runner-up position in the tournament.
Looking ahead, UW-Eau Claire will participate in the Golfweek October Classic. The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 12 at the Sandestin Resort's Raven Course in Destin, Fla.
