LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's track and field team kicked off their outdoor season on Friday as they competed at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Friday with multiple top finishes, including a first-place result from
Allyson Kakes in the women's 100 meters and a victory by
Kylee Grabarski in the women's 400 meters, showcasing a strong overall team performance.
Sprints
Allyson Kakes secured first place in the Women's 100 Meters with a time of 12.35. In the Women's 200 Meters,
Britt Fitzgerald placed third with a time of 25.62.
Middle Distance
Kylee Grabarski claimed the top spot in the Women's 400 Meters, finishing in 57.38. The Women's 4 x 400 Relay team finished second with a time of 3:57.64.
Distance
Bella Hooker finished second in the Women's 1500 Meters with a time of 4:42.57.
Hurdles
In the Women's 100 Hurdles preliminaries,
Lauren Dimler placed sixth with a time of 14.79, while
Brooklyn Lamers finished third in the finals with a time of 15.54. In the Women's 400 Hurdles,
McKenzie Kruse took second place, clocking 1:04.05.
Jumps
Alyssa Draheim took sixth place in the Women's High Jump with a height of 1.58m.
Anna Thaler secured seventh place in the Women's Long Jump with a distance of 5.36m.
Throws
Kristin Behnke won the Women's Discus with a throw of 44.78m. In the Women's Hammer,
Kayla Behnke achieved third place with a distance of 50.55m.
Laura Bertrang finished second in the Women's Javelin with a throw of 39.15m.
The Blugolds will be back in action on April 10-11 as they travel to Platteville, Wis.for the UW-Platteville Invitational. The hammer throw and 5k's will take place on Friday with the rest of the events kicking off on Saturday
