Winter Haven, Fla. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (5-3) fell 6–1 to Bowdoin (5-6) on Thursday, with Bowdoin scoring three runs in the eighth inning to secure the win. UW-Eau Claire managed five hits, including a double, but was unable to overcome Bowdoin's lead.
Bowdoin's decisive eighth inning shifted the momentum with a series of impactful plays. A bunt single by Conor Moriarty set the stage, followed by Will Cooke's RBI triple down the right-field line. The offensive surge continued as Will Bordes added an RBI double, and an RBI groundout brought home another run, extending the lead.
UWEC faced a challenging game but showed resilience in the eighth inning.

Eli Keirstead then reached on a fielder's choice, bringing Smith home for the Blugolds' only run. Despite getting two runners on in the ninth, UW-Eau Claire couldn't capitalize, leaving the potential rally unfinished.
Evan Fischer pitched for 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out four batters. Fischer issued three walks and hit four batters, facing 27 batters in total and throwing 91 pitches with 54 strikes.
Cooper Senne came in as relief, pitching 3 2/3 innings with three hits and three earned runs, while striking out five. Senne did not allow any walks but hit one batter and threw 62 pitches with 43 strikes, managing to maintain a WHIP of 0.94 despite the three runs scored.
Cole Clausen posted two hits and stole a base, contributing to the team's offensive efforts. Smith scored the team's only run, showing his ability to capitalize on opportunities. Caicedo delivered a double and added one hit, providing an extra-base spark.
