Blugolds Shine at Caged Eagle Invite

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire women's track and field team secured victories in four events, including the women's 60-meter finals, women's 200 meters, long jump, and the 4x400 relay at the UW–La Crosse Caged Eagle Invite on Friday.

UWEC showcased strong performances across multiple events. In the Women's 60 Meters finals, Hope Schueller clocked a winning time of 7.73 seconds, and teammate Allyson Kakes secured third place with a time of 7.77 seconds. In the preliminaries, Kakes had previously led the field with a time of 7.78 seconds, indicating consistent speed throughout the event. Additionally, Ava Loney managed to qualify for the finals with a time of 7.89 seconds, later finishing eighth in the finals at 7.92 seconds.

In the Women's 200 Meters, Kakes continued her impressive form, claiming first place with a time of 25.11 seconds. The Blugolds' presence was also felt in the Women's 400 Meters, where Brooklyn Lamers finished in fourth place with a time of 1:00.04 and Michaela Dick closely followed in sixth place, clocking 1:00.34. The team's strength was further demonstrated in the Women's 4x400 Relay, where the squad of Lauren Dimler, Mya Cinnamo, McKenzie Kruse, and Kylee Grabarski finished first with a time of 3:51.18, highlighting the team's depth and coordination in relay events.
  
In the field events, Anna Thaler won the Women's Long Jump with a mark of 5.59m, while Lauren Dimler secured second place with 5.35m. In the Women's Triple Jump, Grace Brown finished fifth with a distance of 10.44m. Kayla Behnke placed second in the Women's Shot Put with a mark of 13.07m and captured first place in the Women's Weight Throw with a distance of 19.16m. Ava Webster achieved eighth place in the shot put, reaching 12.60m.

The Blugolds will gear up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Championships on February 27-28 in Platteville, Wis. First events on Friday are scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
