BELOIT, Wis. — UW-Eau Claire secured a 2-0 victory over Beloit on Sunday at Strong Soccer Field. The Blugolds dominated with 27 shots, 22 on target, while Beloit managed only two shots. The Blugolds' goalkeeper recorded a shutout with two saves, and the team capitalized on their opportunities with goals in each half.
Eau Claire opened the first half by establishing offensive pressure early against Beloit. A series of shots by
Aiden Judickas,
Krystof Cicha, and
Noah Malcook tested Beloit's defense. The persistence paid off in the 21st minute when Malcook scored with assists from
Tate McDermott and Cicha, giving UW-Eau Claire a 1-0 lead.
UW-Eau Claire continued to dominate possession, creating numerous scoring opportunities, but Beloit remained resolute in goal. The defense of the Blugolds was equally effective, with
Kalan McIlveen saving a shot from the Bucaneers to maintain the lead. The half concluded with UW-Eau Claire holding a 1-0 advantage, setting the stage for the second half.
The second half began with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire applying early pressure, including multiple corner kicks, but Beloit's defense held firm. Despite frequent attempts on goal, the Blugolds' shots were consistently denied by Beloit goalkeeper David Staats. Persistent efforts paid off in the 75th minute when
Carson Kowalski broke through with a goal, assisted by
Alek Laroi.
UW-Eau Claire maintained control following the goal, continuing to test Beloit's defense with several more shots. McIlveen made a crucial save against Eduardo Lasen's attempt, preserving the shutout. The half closed with the Blugolds leading 2-0, securing their advantage through consistent offensive pressure and solid defensive work.
Noah Malcook scored one goal and recorded three shots on goal, securing the game-winning goal for UW-Eau Claire.
Krystof Cicha contributed with one assist and had one shot on goal.
Kalan McIlveen posted two saves, maintaining a clean sheet over 85:34 minutes of play.
Carson Kowalski added a goal with his only shot on target.
The Blugolds improved to 5-2-1 overall. Beloit holds a 4-5-2 overall record and is 1-0-0 in conference play.
UWEC will return back home and host Luther College on Wednesday, October 1 at Simpson Field. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
