EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball team swept a doubleheader against UW-Superior 16-1 (5 innings) and 7-2 on Wednesday at Bollinger Fields.
Molly Marquardt (So. - Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) broke UW-Eau Claire's single season record by hitting her 18th double of the season to power the sweep of the Yellowjackets.
The previous single-season record was 17 doubles, set in 1997 by Jill Schoenike. Just a sophomore, Marquardt already ranks just outside the top 10 on the Blugolds' career doubles leaderboard with 28 to her credit.
