MENOMONIE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's track and field teams closed out the Warren Bowlus Open with some big performances on Saturday at UW-Stout.
The performance of
Laura Bertrang (So. – New Ulm, Minn.) was one of the highlights. She set a new meet record in the women's high jump at 1.71 meters.
Individual event winners
The Blugolds also had two athletes in action at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston.
Sam Verkerke (Sr. – White Bear Lake, Minn.) placed 26th in the men's 800-meter run and
Mason Shea (Sr. – River Falls, Wis.) took 60th in the men's 3,000-meter run. Both competed against runners from all levels of the NCAA, including many from Division I.

UW-Eau Claire is next in action on Saturday, February 8, when they compete at UW-La Crosse's Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational. The meet begins at 2 p.m. in La Crosse.
