MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) has announced the Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of November 17 - 23. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's hockey's Max Gutjahr has been named the Men's Hockey Player of the Week by anonymous vote of WIAC head coaches and Sports Information Directors.
Gutjahr and the Blugolds began WIAC play with two victories during the week. On Nov. 21, Gutjahr shut out No. 14-ranked UW-Superior with 20 saves. Gutjahr followed up his second shutout of the season with 22 saves and a win over UW-Stout on Nov. 22. Gutjahr is 3-2-1 on the year and currently leads the WIAC in save percentage (.942) and goals against average (1.48).
