MENOMONIE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's and women's indoor track and field teams began the Warren Bowlus Open on a high note on Friday at UW-Stout. With only the multis in action on the opening day of the meet,
Emilee Booker (Sr. - Genoa City, Wis./Badger) won the pentathlon with one of the top scores in Division III so far this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Booker tallied 3,532 points to win the pentathlon. That ranks as the third-best performance in NCAA Division III this season. She placed in the top three in all five events, highlighted by wins in the 60-meter hurdles and long jump.
- The Blugold women swept the top four spots in pentathlon. Emma Gruen (Sr. - Elroy, Wis./Royall) took second with 3,299. Lauryn Rustad (So. - Perham, Minn.) was third at 3,181, and Brooklyn Lamers (Fr. - Caledonia, Wis./Union Grove) took fourth with 3,156.
- The men's heptathlon also got underway Friday. Max Foland (Sr. - Middleton, Wis.) leads the Blugolds in third place at 2,780. His top finish was second in the 60-meter dash. The heptathlon concludes with three more events on Saturday.

The meet continues on Saturday, February 1 with the conclusion of the multis and all other track and field events. The action begins at 9 a.m. in Menomonie.
