MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (www.bluoglds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track & field squads wrapped up the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday with a day filled with final events and saw six Blugolds earn podium placements as the men placed tied for 6
th overall with 31 points and the women finished tied for 11
th with 16 points.
Leading things off for UW-Eau Claire was
Teagan Jones (Sr. – Lake Zurich, Ill.) in the women's hammer throw. Despite just missing the All-America cut in the discus on Thursday, Jones threw a career long 62.48 meters to earn her a second-place finish and her third All-America honor. Jones' runner up performance was 0.02 meters short of the top length on the day and was 2.78 meters further than third place.
Stefan Klechefski (Sr. – Roberts, Wis./River Falls) was the next Blugold to find the podium as Klechefski placed seventh overall in the men's 100m dash. With his 10.64 time, Klechefski earned his fourth All-America honor.
Finishing up the day was the men's 4x400 team of
Kevin Eisenzimmer (Sr. – Mineral Point, Wis.),
Colin McClowry (Jr. – Neenah, Wis.),
Izaak Clendenning (Fr. – Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) and
Josiah Ziebell (Sr. – Mauston, Wis.). The four Blugolds put together a podium placement race by finishing in 3:12.20 and placing sixth overall to earn All-America honors.
The Blugolds men's team places in the top-10 for the fourth consecutive season and the women place in the top-15 for the first time since the 2021 season.
