Box Score 2 MOLINE, Ill. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire baseball team was back on the road on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Augustana College (Ill.) Vikings. The Blugolds dropped both games against the Vikings, 10-0 and 11-6.

The opening game of the Sunday doubleheader started with momentum from the home team as Augustana tallied seven runs in the first three innings. David Janssen (So. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial), Otto Treichel (Jr. – Madison, WI/West), and Jacob Lacy (Sr. – Shawano, WI) all recorded one hit each for UWEC's three hits during game one.
In game two, Eau Claire bounced back with some momentum as Otto Treichel drove in two runs with a single for a 2-0 lead after the first. Andrew Murphy (Fr. – Mahtomedi, MN) extended the lead in the 2nd with his first collegiate homerun, bringing the scoreline to 3-0.
Augustana answered with nine runs in the next three innings to create a six-run deficit for UWEC.
Cade Mueller (So. – Coal City, IL) brought some momentum back to the visitors in the 7th with a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-5. Nate Witte (So. – Woodbury, MN/East Ridge) followed that up with an RBI double to score David Janssen. The Vikings answered again in the bottom of the seventh with two runs and an 11-6 lead that would hold for the remainder of the game.
Matt Moore (So. – Stillwater, MN) received the loss in game one and is now 0-1 on the season. Charley Griffin (Jr. – River Falls, WI) went three and two thirds' innings in his first loss of the season. Griffin is now 0-1 in 2022 and 1-6 on his career in his second season with the Blugolds.
The Blugolds (2-3, WIAC 0-0) will prepare for their home opener on Friday, March 18th when the host Northland College for an afternoon doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 1PM.
