RIVER FALLS, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire dropped their doubleheader with UW-Stout on Friday afternoon, 22-3 and 10-3. The games were played at First National Bank of River Falls Field.

Eau Claire fell behind after the big fourth and fifth innings from Stout. The Blugolds responded by scoring three runs in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to close the gap. The RBIs would come from Elyjah Johnson (Fr.-Eau Claire, WI/North), Chase Yaeger (Fr.-Black River Falls, WI) and Zach Brandenburg (Jr.-Grafton, WI).

The Blugold offense never quite got going in the first game. They finished with a pair of hits, coming from Logan Matson (Jr.-Neillsville, WI) and Johnson. Eau Claire did demonstrate excellent plate discipline, recording five walks, with two apiece from Matson and Johnson.

In game two, Stout went up 3-0 but Eau Claire got on the board in the third with a Matson RBI single. An inning later, the Blugolds tied up the game with a double from Otto Treichel (So.-Madison, WI/West) scoring Henry Pitsch (Fr.-Madison, WI/West). Triechel would then cross home on an RBI single from David Janssen. (Fr.-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial)

UWEC had plenty of opportunities the rest of the way, finishing with 12 hits to Stout's nine. They couldn't convert the offense into runs, with the Blue Devils winning 10-3.

Pitsch led all Blugolds with three hits and tallied a triple.  Matson and Jacob Lacy (Jr.-Shawano, WI) provided two hits apiece.

The Blugolds will be back on the diamond tomorrow, finishing up their doubleheader with UW-Stout that was postponed earlier in the week. Game one will resume at 2:30 in the sixth inning, with game two slated to start after a brief intermission.
