LA CROSSE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire track and field teams competed in two different meets last week and over the weekend as the Blugolds sent student-athletes to the North Central Last Chance and the Eagle Open.

At the North Central Meet, Samantha Slattery (Jr. – Waunakee, WI) took seventh place in the 5K at the North Central Last Chance Meet, finishing in 17:04.87.
Callie Fischer (Sr. – Oneida, WI/Ashwaubenon) took ninth place in the 10K with a time of 36:57.92 while Mel Becker (Sr. – Osseo, WI/homeschool) was 11th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:38.80 (NC)
The Blugolds turned in strong performances at the Eagle Open hosted by UW-La Crosse, with seven Blugolds winning events for the women.
Kelsey Worachek (Sr. – Appleton, WI/Xavier) won the 100m dash with a time of 12.27 while Ashleigh Buergi (Sr. – Green Bay, WI/Bay Port) won the 400 with a time of 58.05.
Karli Olsen (Fr. – Blue Earth, WI) won the 800m (2:20.94) while teammates Sasha Riley (So. Fairmont, MN) and Sara Moen (Fr. - Blaine, MN/Centennial) took second and third (2:21.85 and 2:22.67).
Mel Becker took first in the 1500m run with a time of 4:38.94 while Taylor Lather (Sr. – Stillwater, MN/St. Croix Prep) was third (4:48.23).
The Blugold throwers continued to dominate, with Erica Oawster (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) taking first in the shot put (14.23m) and discus (49.85m) while JoHannah Theisen (Sr. – Eau Claire, WI/Regis) was third in the shot put (13.53m).
In the 3000m steeplechase, Teagan Monfils (Fr. – Shawano, WI) and Emma Drangstveit (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North) went one-two, finishing in 11:31.16 and 11:53.67, respectively.
The 4x100m relay team of Amy Chen (Fr. – Fr. – Mayville, WI), Worachek, Buergi and Tommie Brenner (Jr. – Reedsburg, WI) took second with a time of 47.54 while Marin Munos (Fr. – Oswego, IL/Aurora West) was second in the high jump with a height of 1.57m.
For the men, the Blugolds turned in three second place finishes.
Bailey Wilson (So. – New Richmond, WI) was second in the 1500m (4:14.49) while Connor Dolan (Fr. – Nekoosa, WI/Assumption) was second in the 5K (15.29.40).
David Kornack (Jr. – Edgar, WI) placed second in the shot put (16.64m) while Joe Black (So. – River Falls, WI) was third in the javelin with a throw of 49.63m.
In the long jump, Adam Lembke (Fr. – Waukesha, WI/West) was third with a distance of 6.51m and TJ Lui (So. – Dousman, WI/Kettle Moraine) was third in the triple jump (13.36m).
