EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Alex Mess (Sr.-Lake Mills, WI/Green Bay Notre Dame) has been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Field Performer of the Meet for the 2016 WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the conference office announced on Friday.

Mess won the men's shot put with a throw of 17.55 meters, which ranks him 2nd in the country. He also finished second in the discus, with a mark of 48.86, and 4th in the hammer with 53.99.

Mess is second Blugold to earn the Field Performer of the Meet trophy.
