Suckow Leads Track & Field on Day One of NCAA Championships

BEREA, Ohio (Blugolds.com) - Hayley Suckow (Sr.-Elk Mound, Wis.) recorded a third place finish in the pole vault to lead the Blugolds on day one of the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College today.

Suckow finished with a height of 3.93 meters (12-10.75) as she earned All-American honors. Her mark was just one-quarter of an inch shy of the Blugolds' school record. Last season she finished in fifth place.

Kevin Hall (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) also secured an All-American finish as he took eighth place in the men's 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:09.27 in the 15-runner field.

Also competing in events today were Brittany Frederick (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) (hammer throw), Erin Schoenfelder (Fr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) (400-meter hurdles) and the men's and women's 4x400-meter relay teams. After competing in preliminaries in all four events, none of the marks were good enough to allow the Blugolds to advance.

Friday the Blugolds will compete in three more events (women's shot put, men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase) while they will wrap up the championship with two more events (women's discus throw and women's 5,000-meter run) on Saturday.
