UW-Eau Claire's Hall Named Men's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete

MADISON, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Kevin Hall (Sr.-Green Bay, Wis./Preble) has been named the 2010 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Max Sparger Men's Outdoor Track and Field Scholar-Athlete.

Hall, a senior from Green Bay, Wis. (Preble), is majoring in English comprehensive teaching and owns a 3.83 grade point average. He has been recognized on UW-Eau Claire's Honor Roll and Dean's List on numerous occasions, while receiving WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll status in 2006, 2007 and 2009.

At this year's WIAC championship, he earned a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter run. Hall also placed third in the event at the 2007 championship after finishing eighth in 2006. He recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history in the 10,000-meter run this season. Also a member of the cross country squad, Hall is a two-time team Most Valuable Runner and three-year team captain.

Hall is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Societies. He has volunteered as a writing tutor at local elementary schools, as well as a gifted and talented tutor at the middle school level. Hall has served on UW-Eau Claire's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee the past four years and worked as an assistant minister at the campus' Newman Center.

Also nominated for this year's scholar-athlete award were: UW-Eau Claire's Tim Braunschweig (Sr., Mukwonago, Wis.), UW-La Crosse's Dave Stauder (Sr., Greenfield, Wis./Whitnall), UW-Oshkosh's Ben Wizner (Sr., Onalaska, Wis.), UW-Platteville's Tim Dahms (Sr., Waukesha, Wis./West), Cody Egan (Sr., Davis, Ill./Durand) and Aaron Whalen (Sr., Irma, Wis./Tomahawk), UW-River Falls' Chad Ernst (Sr., Richfield, Minn.), UW-Stevens Point's Jerry Prusinski (Sr., Rib Lake, Wis.) and UW-Stout's Andrew Berlin (Sr., Shell Lake, Wis.) and Sean Larson (Sr., Ellsworth, Wis.).

The WIAC Scholar-Athlete Award is named after Max Sparger, who served as commissioner of the Wisconsin State University Conference from July, 1971 - July, 1993.

In order to be nominated for the scholar-athlete award, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.25 grade point average. In addition, he must be in his last year of competition, or on schedule to graduate this academic year, and have competed for a minimum of two years.
