Men's Track Competes in UW-Platteville Invitational

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team competed in Saturday's UW-Platteville Invitational. Because there were a handful of Division I redshirts in competition, no team scores were kept for the meet.

But the Blugolds still had a handful of individual top finishers on the track.

In the 5,000-meter run, Chris Wirtz (Sr.-Weston, Wis./D.C. Everest) placed second with a time of 14:45.77, while teammate Tom Breitbach (So.-Muskego, Wis.) took third in 14:46.51. Adam Flyte (Sr.-Fort Atkinson, Wis.) placed third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:01.37.

Andy Warren (Sr.-Kenosha, Wis./Bradford) took third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:41.5.

The Blugolds also competed well in relays and took second and third in the 4x400-meter event.

The team is off until next Friday, April 16 when they head to UW-La Crosse for the Phil Esten Challenge. Events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
