EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - For the second day in row, the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team won a game at the Bollinger Fields with a score of 5-2.

The Blugolds earned the victory over Macalester College (Minn.) today. Yesterday Eau Claire beat UW-River Falls 5-2. The two wins were the first victories at home this season for Eau Claire. The Blugolds are now 2-2 at home and 4-2-1 overall. Coming into this weekend, the Blugolds had scored just six goals in five games on the season. They now have 16.

Shyla Gilbertson (Fr.-Waunakee, Wis.), who struck first yesterday against the Falcons, also picked up Eau Claire's first goal today. She now has five goals on the season to lead the Blugolds.

It took Macalester just 15 minutes to tie the game back up at 1-1 with a goal by Maddy Cochrane at 27:12. Sam Krueger (Sr.-Elkhorn, Wis.) answered right back with an unassisted goal at 28:23 to put the Blugolds back on top.

Eau Claire put up one more goal in the first half to take the 3-1 lead in to the intermission. Ali Mater (Jr.-Elm Grove, Wis./Brookfield East) found the net on an assist from Gina Christenbury (Jr.-Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Kenosha Tremper).

In the second half, Emily Alsheskie (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis./St. Mary's Springs) scored twice for the Blugolds, once at 68:48 and again at 86:07, to give the Blugolds the 5-1 advantage. With 1:05 left in the contest, Macalester scored their second goal to make the score 5-2.

Emily Kidd (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) played the entire 90 minutes for Eau Claire in goal, saving four shots while allowing two goals. Tressa Versteeg played the full game in the net for Macalester and finished with five goals against and five saves.

As a team, the Blugolds outshot Macalester 16-8 and had seven corner kicks to Macalester's three.

The Blugolds will wrap up their three-game home stand this Wednesday when UW-Platteville comes to town for a conference contest. Action will get underway at 4 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields.
