UW-Eau Claire's goalkeeper recorded five saves, including four in the second half, to secure the shutout. Both teams had opportunities, with the Blugolds managing a single shot on goal and their opponents totaling six shots on target.
The first half began with both UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville unable to capitalize on early opportunities. UW-Eau Claire's defensive efforts were highlighted by
Bella Jones, who made a crucial save in the 27th minute, denying Jess Morawski. Despite attempts from
Jayda Swopes and
Sabrina Pickart, the Blugolds couldn't find the back of the net. The half closed with the score level at 0-0, as neither team managed to break the deadlock.
The second half commenced with UW-Eau Claire focusing on maintaining a strong defensive presence, highlighted by Jones's key saves against UW-Platteville's early attempts, including a notable stop in the 48th minute.
Savannah Swopes generated an offensive opportunity with a shot saved by the opposing goalkeeper shortly after. Despite several corner kicks and shots from
Emma Donovan and
Olivia Lukrafka Varassin, the visitors could not break through the defense.
As the half continued, Jones remained pivotal, adding multiple saves to her tally, including efforts in the 55th and 72nd minutes. UW-Eau Claire applied consistent pressure through a series of corners and shots, culminating in a late attempt by Pickart. The match concluded with both sides unable to find the back of the net, ending in a 0-0 draw.
