ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over the University of Northwestern (MN) in nonconference action.
UW-Eau Claire dropped the doubles point, falling in two of the three flights. At No. 1, Pablo Rincon and Danylo Ripeckyj picked up a 6-3 win, while Andrew Mueller and Emilio Monge fell 6-4 at No. 2. At No. 3, Logan Carroll and Jack Michaud were also defeated 6-4.
The Blugolds responded with a strong showing in singles, winning five of the six matches to secure the team victory. Pablo Rincon led the way at No. 1 with a 6-1, 7-5 win, while Billy Hughes added a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 3. At No. 4, Emilio Monge battled to an 11-9 third-set win (6-3, 3-6, 11-9), and Logan Carroll earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5. Jack Michaud rounded out the wins with a 6-1, 6-1 performance at No. 6. At No. 2, Danylo Ripeckyj dropped a tight three-set match (7-6, 2-6, 10-7).
