The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned a 4-3 victory over MSOE in a tightly contested match.
UW-Eau Claire battled in doubles play but came up just short of the opening point. Pablo Rincon and Danylo Ripeckyj picked up a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles, while Sam Murillo and Billy Hughes fell 6-3 at No. 2. Andrew Mueller and Cohen Newberg were also defeated at No. 3, 6-2, giving MSOE a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Blugolds responded with a strong showing in singles, winning four of the six matches to secure the team victory. Rincon led the way at No. 1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win, while Ripeckyj added a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Hughes earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3, and Mueller clinched the match at No. 6 with a comeback victory, 0-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Murillo fell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4, and Emilio Monge was defeated 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5, as UW-Eau Claire secured the 4-3 win.
