EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's tennis team earned a 4-2 victory over UW-Stevens Point in conference action.
UW-Eau Claire split the completed doubles matches, with the point going unfinished. At No. 1, Pablo Rincon and Danylo Ripeckyj were tied 4-5 before the match was called. At No. 2, Sam Murillo and Billy Hughes earned a 6-4 victory, while Andrew Mueller and Cohen Newberg fell 6-2 at No. 3.
The Blugolds secured the match in singles, winning four of the six contests. Pablo Rincon led the way at No. 1 with a three-set win (5-7, 6-2, 6-4), while Danylo Ripeckyj added a 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 victory at No. 2. At No. 4, Sam Murillo earned a 6-2, 6-1 win, and Emilio Monge battled to a three-set victory at No. 5 (3-6, 7-6(4), 6-3). At No. 3, Billy Hughes fell in a tight three-set match (1-6, 6-2, 7-6(6)), and Jack Michaud was defeated 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6.
