MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Wyatt Unser was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Co-Newcomer of the Year for the 2025-26 season. The WIAC announced its postseason awards Friday.
Unser finished the year highly regarded, completing his freshman season with a 30-12 record. Of his 30 victories, 17 of them were won by bonus point. He went on to see large postseason success, winning the conference championship, playing a large role in the Blugolds' WIAC team championship, and earning five victories in the NCAA tournament.
Unser tacks this award onto a first-year that also saw him earn All-American honors. He is the second Freshman to be named All-American in program history, the first since Nathaniel Behnke in 2013.
This is the first Blugold awarded WIAC Newcomer of the Year since Jared Stricker following the 2021/22 season.
