MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (4-2) secured a decisive 5-0 victory followed by a commanding 10-3 win over Carleton College (0-4) on Tuesday at U.S. Bank Stadium. In the first game, UW-Eau Claire's pitching staff allowed only one hit while striking out eight batters across seven innings, while the second game showcased their offensive firepower with 10 hits and five stolen bases.
Game 1
UW-Eau Claire established control early in the first game with a decisive sequence in the first inning.
Logan Hesselman and
Cole Clausen both drew walks, setting the stage for
Austin Curti, who delivered a critical two-run triple to left-center, giving the Blugolds a 2-0 lead. This momentum carried through the game as UWEC continually expanded its lead with strategic plays and disciplined at-bats.
The Blugolds maintained offensive pressure in subsequent innings. In the fifth,
Austin Buck walked and stole second, advancing to third on a popup and scoring on a double by Clausen. The sixth inning saw
Will Johnson's aggressive baserunning pay off as he stole second and third, eventually scoring on a wild pitch. Defensively, the Blugolds were efficient, allowing only one hit through seven innings, with Carleton unable to capitalize on their limited opportunities.
Despite a late Carleton double in the sixth inning, UW-Eau Claire's defense held firm, nullifying the threat with solid play, including a key fielder's choice that cut down a runner at the plate. This comprehensive approach ensured a shutout victory, highlighting the team's balanced performance on both sides of the ball.

Carleton's only significant push came in the fifth inning, where UWEC's defensive lapses allowed two unearned runs to cross the plate. However, the home team's pitching and defense held firm, limiting any further damage. UW-Eau Claire added to its lead in the fifth, with
