LA CROSSE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire men's track and field team competed at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational on Saturday. The Blugolds saw eight competitors finish in the top three of their respective events as UWEC continued their 2026 season.
Gage Stankiewicz dominated in his field events with first place finishes in the shot put and the weight throw. Stankiewicz's shot put mark of 18.41 meters (60' 5") earned him first overall out of 28 competitors and sits as the second longest throw of all Division III this season. During the weight throw, Stankiewicz captured another first-place finish with his throw of 18.79 meters (61' 7 ¾").
Other Blugold competitors to find top three placements included
Leo Orlikowski and
Brad Roe placing second and third respectively in the high jump as both Blugolds hit the 1.96-meter (6' 5") mark.
Jace Stolte finished third in the long jump with a distance of 6.81 meters (22' 4 ½"). Riley Templeton recorded a career best in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 21.65 seconds.
Blake Postler was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles with a career best and third fastest Division III time this year of 7.93 seconds.
Tyler Botz placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a career best 8.28 second finish.
Jack Wanezek also finished in the top three during the 800-meter run with a 1:55.04 finish.
The Blugolds will be back on the road next weekend with meets at the Midwest Elite 5k at UW-Whitewater on Friday, February 13, and the UW-Stout Quad on Saturday, February 14.
